How It Works

Small talk is often built from very simple questions.

You do not need a long conversation.

A useful sequence is:

Vous venez d’où ?

Je viens de…

Et vous ?

Vous habitez ici ?

Je parle un peu français.

Then react naturally:

Ah, d’accord !

Moi aussi.

These short reactions make the conversation feel more natural.

Micro Grammar

Today, focus on two small patterns.

Pattern 1 — venir de

Use:

Je viens de + place

Examples:

Je viens de Londres.

Je viens de Paris.

At this stage, learn the pattern as a useful chunk.

Pattern 2 — habiter à

Use:

J’habite à + city

Examples:

J’habite à Lyon.

J’habite à Paris.

Pronunciation Focus
